Abiola Oladotun is a visual artist and illustrator born in 1988, Ibadan, Nigeria. After his parents moved to Lagos, he attended Central High School Isolo. He later went to University of Lagos, Nigeria where he studied Creative Art. In 2012 he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in painting at the Universal Art Studio in the National theatre, Iganmu Lagos.
Oladotun explores movement and interprets his idea of freedom by using abstract figurative forms. He uniquely combines drawing and painting on the same canvas, which results in flow and continuity of his curves, postures, and lines of his subject matter. He applies colours in quick strokes to give a graphical effect and animation to his work. Oladotun draws his inspiration from artists like, Bob- Nosa Uwagboe, Lynn Arnod, and Alberto Giacometti.
