Ismael Kateregga was born in Uganda in 1980. He currently lives and works in Kampala, Uganda.
Ismael Kateregga earned his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Fine Art (BIFA-Hons) from the Margaret Trowell School of Art at Makerere University, Kampala, in 2005. Between 2002 and 2008, he taught at Mandela College School in Bweyogerere, Kampala, before dedicating himself fully to painting.
Inspired by the vibrant daily life of Kampala, including its bustling streets, the serene beaches and boats of Lake Victoria, and the beauty of animals, Kateregga’s work is characterized by simplified details but excels in form, controlled light, and perspective. His art has gained international recognition and is part of private and institutional collections across Austria, Brazil, Germany, Italy, India, the Netherlands, Norway, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, and the USA.
