Fatai Kelani is an emerging Nigerian artist hailing from Lagos.
His artistic journey began at the age of six when he discovered his innate talent for drawing, sparking a lifelong passion for artistic expression. Kelani honed his skills through apprenticeships under two Lagos-based artists, Damilola Opedun and Muyiwa Williams, before furthering his education at the prestigious Yaba College of Technology in 2014. There, he pursued a course in art and design, culminating in his graduation with a Higher National Diploma in Painting in 2019.
Fully immersed in his studio practice, Kelani draws inspiration from nature’s rich tapestry and surroundings, infusing his work with metaphorical depth. A versatile artist, he seamlessly navigates between impressionism and realism, allowing the narrative of each piece to dictate its form. Kelani exhibits mastery across a range of mediums, including oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, and charcoal.
Kelani’s artwork has garnered admiration from esteemed local art connoisseurs and collectors, who recognize the vibrancy and talent of the Lagos art scene through his diverse portfolio. His work encompasses commissioned pieces, pastel paintings, watercolors, oil paintings, charcoal drawings, acrylic paintings, and mixed media creations.
Having gained local and international recognition, Kelani has participated in numerous group exhibitions, showcasing his artistic prowess to audiences within and beyond Nigeria.
